Roles & Responsibilities

• Maintain and review healthcare records to monitor issues and provide thorough documentation and reports
• Develop and sustain therapeutic relationships with individuals and their circles of support, including caregivers and families
• Provide comprehensive nursing assessments, planning, and ongoing monitoring to promote best possible health outcomes
• Coordinate and quality-control medication administration processes, documentation, and error reporting
• Advocate with external healthcare providers to ensure individuals receive routine and preventative services
• Deliver health education to unlicensed workforce and persons served (medication administration, infection control, etc.)
• Prepare required health-status reports and support training of delegated nursing tasks

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure for Delaware, without restrictions
• Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum of one year of general nursing experience required; additional IDD experience preferred
• Certified in CPR and First Aid
• Valid driver's license
• Developmental Disabilities Nursing Association Accreditation preferred
• Experience with Therap EHR preferred

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong nursing assessment and documentation skills
• Medication administration best practices and medication safety oversight
• Patient advocacy and coordination with external healthcare providers
• Health education techniques for individuals and support staff
• Familiarity with Therap (EHR) for clinical documentation
• Ability to develop rapport with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their support teams
