Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care for PCU patients, managing both acute and step-down needs
• Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Cerner to ensure continuity and safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, techs, and unit secretaries to coordinate patient care
• Apply ACLS and BLS protocols when needed to stabilize and support critically ill patients
• Support unit staffing and workflow, contributing to a positive culture that encourages travel staff to return

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) experience — PCU/Acute Care and ICU experience preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of relevant nursing experience (as listed)
• BLS required
• ACLS required/advanced skills needed
• Experience with Cerner documentation system

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Cerner documentation and electronic charting skills
• Comfort with telemetry, patient monitoring, and interpreting clinical data
• ACLS and BLS protocol knowledge for emergency response
• Ability to manage patient ratios typical to the unit (example: 1:5 day, 1:6 night)
• Excellent communication, prioritization, and critical thinking in fast-paced settings
• Teamwork and adaptability — able to float to ED as needed per unit policy
