Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide thorough pre-operative assessments and prepare patients for procedures
• Deliver attentive post-operative and post-sedation monitoring to ensure safe recoveries
• Monitor vital signs, EKGs and lab results and act promptly on abnormal findings
• Assist anesthesia providers with nerve blocks and spinal procedures as needed
• Document care accurately in Meditech Expanse and maintain high attention to detail
• Collaborate with OR staff and unit team members to optimize patient flow and experience
• Educate patients and families about pre-op instructions and post-op care for better outcomes

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — active RN credential (Registered Nurse) required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (per job posting)
• Experience with pre-op and post-op care, including orthopedic and general surgery patients
• Comfortable with post-sedation monitoring, EKG interpretation and lab monitoring
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain strong attention to detail

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Meditech Expanse documentation system
• Skilled in patient monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Familiarity with GE monitors, ultrasound use and stretcher operation
• Knowledge of preoperative medications and perioperative protocols
• Strong teamwork, communication and adaptability in a high-volume surgical unit
