Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor and delivery process
• Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, including fetal heart rate patterns, and intervene promptly when needed
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and emergency obstetric procedures
• Educate and support new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the healthcare team to ensure safe, positive birth experiences
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Illinois or a compact state (or willingness to obtain)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certification required
• Completion of Trinity-specific competency testing and skills checklist

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of maternal-fetal physiology and labor progression
• Skilled in fetal heart monitor interpretation and response
• Confident in neonatal resuscitation techniques
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Ability to stay calm and focused in high-stress situations
• Team player who thrives in a collaborative birth center environment
