Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional post-anesthesia nursing care to patients awakening from surgery
• Monitor vital signs, consciousness, and pain levels to ensure a smooth recovery
• Develop individualized care plans and guide patients and families through discharge instructions
• Act quickly and confidently when patients show signs of complications or distress
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team
• Create a calm, compassionate, and safe recovery environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Rhode Island (or willing to obtain)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
• PACU experience is essential for this role
• Ability to complete the facility's skills checklist, competency exams, and health requirements
• Strong clinical judgment and a passion for patient advocacy

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of PACU standards and post-operative recovery protocols
• Skilled in patient assessment, airway management, and cardiac monitoring
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Ability to stay composed and decisive in high-pressure situations
• Knowledge of various anesthesia types and their recovery stages
