Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients, including ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance.
• Assess and monitor respiratory status, adjusting treatments as needed and reporting changes to the care team.
• Administer nebulizer treatments, inhaled medications, and chest physiotherapy with precision and compassion.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and respiratory team members to develop and adjust patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, home care techniques, and equipment use.
• Document all care accurately and promptly in the electronic health record.

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Iowa or eligibility to obtain one.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred).
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist.
• Ability to pass required health screenings, fit testing, color vision, and 10-panel drug screen.
• Recent respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, and oxygen delivery systems.
• Skilled in interpreting blood gases and adjusting therapy accordingly.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with the care team and educating patients.
• Comfortable working independently during night shifts and in high-pressure situations.
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and EHR skills.
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
