Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and update the SEARHC Infection Prevention & Control Program to align with CDC, CMS, OSHA, FDA, TJC, and APIC guidelines
• Lead HAI surveillance, collect and trend infection control data, and prepare accurate reports for NHSN and regulatory agencies
• Write, approve, and implement infection prevention policies and procedures that support systemwide IPC initiatives
• Design and deliver infection prevention education and training for staff, patients, families, and community partners
• Serve as chair of the IPC committee and provide oversight of the Employee Health program
• Collaborate with public health and regional/state/national entities to ensure timely distribution of up-to-date IPC guidance
• Provide program management, performance improvement, and consultative support across the consortium to integrate IPC principles with clinical and business initiatives
• Travel to regional sites to assess, educate, and train staff (travel via jet, small plane, or ferry)

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state (agency staff must have an active Alaska license; direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar) required
• Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
• Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Minimum 3 years of acute care/infection control and/or data collection/performance improvement or risk management experience
• Clinical Competency and Manager Competency to be completed within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter

Education

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or related healthcare field (required)
• Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious diseases
• Hands-on experience with HAI surveillance, NHSN reporting, and regulatory compliance
• Skilled in data collection, trending, statistical analysis, and interpretation
• Proficient with MS Office and database applications
• Experience with performance improvement and project management methodologies
• Ability to synthesize regulatory requirements into policy, implementation, and staff education
• Excellent communication skills for diverse and multicultural audiences
