Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical education to long-term care (LTC) staff across Sitka and Wrangell, focusing on meaningful, evidence-based training
• Design, implement, and standardize clinical competency programs and curricula that align with policy and accreditation standards
• Partner with clinical leaders to create training programs that improve patient quality of care and support staff development and retention
• Support onboarding and preceptorship coordination for entry-level employees and students (UAA/UAS clinical experiences)
• Conduct competency evaluations and ensure completion and compliance with required standards
• Participate as an active member of the Clinical Nursing Education team on cross-consortium projects and initiatives
• Use evidence-based research to identify strategies that improve professional development, nursing practice, and patient outcomes
• Promote SEARHC values and the Seven Standards of Excellence in all educational activities

Qualifications

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required
• Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred — or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical Competency requirement to be met within 3 months of hire and maintained per policy
• Minimum 2 years clinical instructor/educator experience (1 year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
• Minimum 5 years total professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• Supervisory experience preferred

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and clinical education methods
• Experience developing curriculum and delivering training across modalities (in-person, TEAMS, Articulate, PowerPoint, skills fairs)
• Competency assessment and compliance management
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with tools such as TEAMS, Workday, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Canva
• Ability to collaborate with clinical leaders and contribute to policy-aligned education initiatives
• Knowledge of geriatric and adult patient care in LTC settings
