Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate, and treat patients with respiratory disorders
• Administer oxygen, aerosolized medications, and respiratory treatments
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators to ensure optimal patient care
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to develop individualized care plans
• Perform diagnostic tests like arterial blood gases and pulmonary function tests
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and home equipment

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Iowa (or willingness to obtain)
• BLS and ACLS certification required (American Heart Association preferred)
• Willingness to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Skills Checklist
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and health screening
• New graduates are welcome! Prior experience in an acute care setting is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of respiratory therapy equipment and ventilator management
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfort with electronic health records and documentation
• Ability to stay calm and focused in high-pressure situations
