Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform initial triage and full assessments for patients of all ages to ensure timely, evidence-based care
• Administer medications and IV therapy, monitor patients, and manage emergency response when needed
• Document clinical assessments, nursing interventions and education accurately in the EMR
• Coordinate referrals and follow up on outstanding care to keep patients moving through their care plans
• Provide telephone triage and next-day follow-up calls with clear, compassionate guidance
• Maintain infection-control standards, supply levels and safe working environments
• Collaborate with providers and the multidisciplinary team to streamline patient flow and improve outcomes
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts and maintain required competencies

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Direct hires must have applied for an Alaska license before start; agency hires must have an active Alaska license)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and qualified to take NCLEX
• Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care settings
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical competency and High Risk Competency to be completed per employer timelines

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (eligible to take NCLEX)
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and triage with strong clinical judgment
• Medication administration (oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal, IV push/infusion) and IV therapy skills
• Proficient clinical documentation and experience with EMR systems
• Infection control best practices and safety awareness
• Telephone triage, patient education and strong customer-service orientation
• Ability to perform life-saving procedures and respond calmly in emergencies
• Time management, multitasking and collaborative teamwork
