Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess telemetry and MedSurg patients using Philips monitoring systems and interpret nurse-read strips
• Administer and titrate IV drips safely (amiodarone, heparin, diltiazem, fixed-rate insulin, nitroglycerin, dopamine with renal dosing)
• Provide post-procedure cardiac stepdown care (post-cath, pacemaker, PCI, TAVR day 1+, CABG day 1+)
• Respond to respiratory distress events and support noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP) as needed
• Document patient care and assessments accurately in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with monitor techs, RT, pharmacy, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe patient care
• Float competently between units to maintain safe ratios and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (must be able to submit license)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (COVID vaccination required per facility policy)
• Minimum ~2 years of acute MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience preferred
• Strong telemetry and cardiac stepdown experience, including experience with post-op cardiac patients
• Comfortable administering IV drips and following renal dosing protocols
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, float between units, and meet every-other-weekend requirements

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Cerner EMR for charting and medication administration records
• Telemetry interpretation and use of Philips monitoring systems
• IV medication administration and pump/drip management
• Patient assessment and acute care management for cardiac and surgical patients
• Sepsis recognition and management
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and escalation to hospitalists/intensivists when needed
