Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit
Assess, monitor and respond to changes in patient condition with clinical confidence
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
Administer medications, therapies and treatments safely and accurately
Document patient care, assessments and interventions clearly and timely
Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and discharge planning
Participate in unit-based performance improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

Current RN license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Comfortable caring for step-down/telemetry patients; critical care experience is a plus
Strong clinical assessment, communication and teamwork skills
Active professional attitude and commitment to patient safety

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
Patient assessment and acute care management
Medication administration and IV therapy
Electronic medical record documentation
Effective communication with patients, families and clinical teams
Prioritization and time management in a fast-paced environment
