Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 4-hour pre-op shifts (specific start/end times and days to be confirmed; orientation required). Facility operates in America/Chicago timezone.

Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Perform thorough pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients with attention and compassion
Coordinate with surgical teams and families to ensure smooth, safe handoffs
Prepare patients for procedures and provide clear, age-appropriate education to caregivers
Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient status
Ensure the pre-op environment is safe, sterile, and ready for each case
Participate in orientation and ongoing unit education to maintain best practices

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (able to practice in Missouri or eligible for licensure)
Experience or interest in pediatric pre-operative nursing is highly valued
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
Comfort working with children and communicating effectively with families
Ability to pass standard background checks and meet facility immunization requirements

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

Focused pre-op assessment and documentation skills
Strong pediatric communication and family-centered care approach
Ability to collaborate effectively with perioperative teams
Familiarity with infection control and pre-operative safety protocols
Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in short shift blocks
