Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care tailored to pediatric patients
Assess and document patient status and prepare children and families for procedures
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team members to ensure smooth handoffs
Educate caregivers on pre-op instructions and set expectations for recovery
Maintain safety, infection control, and a child-friendly environment in the pre-op area
Participate in orientation, unit training, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted RN license in Missouri or ability to obtain licensure
Experience in pediatric nursing and pre-operative care preferred
Current BLS required; PALS or pediatric certification preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with families and interdisciplinary teams
Ability to complete required background checks, immunizations, and facility onboarding

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication techniques
Pre-operative preparation, documentation, and basic monitoring
Comfort with IV starts, medication administration, and perioperative protocols
Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate charting
Team collaboration, time management, and calm decision-making in busy settings
