Contract Type: Per-Diem

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess pediatric patients pre-operatively and quickly identify any clinical concerns
- Prepare children and their families for surgery with calm, age-appropriate education and reassurance
- Administer pre-op medications and perform necessary interventions safely and accurately
- Collaborate with the surgical team and anesthesia to ensure seamless patient flow
- Document assessments, interventions and communications in the chart clearly and promptly
- Support a family-centered approach — comfort caregivers and answer questions with empathy
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Missouri licensure or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience in pre-operative nursing and/or pediatric nursing preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
- Strong pediatric assessment skills and comfort working with children and families
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced surgical setting
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Pre-operative assessment and preparation for pediatric patients
- Medication administration and safe documentation practices
- Family-centered care and patient education tailored to children
- Familiarity with surgical workflows and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Attention to detail, infection control, and patient safety practices
