Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for PCU patients during overnight shifts
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
• Monitor patient status closely and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and support staff to coordinate care
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment plans, and discharge needs
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment while adhering to hospital policies and protocols

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Kentucky required
• Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or step-down nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work overnight shifts and a flexible schedule as assigned

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in PCU-level monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Skilled in medication administration and IV therapy
• Knowledge of common acute cardiac and medical conditions seen in PCU
• Familiarity with electronic medical record documentation
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and manage multiple patients during busy night shifts
• Comfortable collaborating in a fast-paced hospital setting
