Shift Type: Rotating day and night shifts including weekends. Day shift (report window provided) 6:45 AM - 7:15 AM; night shifts scheduled as needed. Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period; no on-call.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive cardiac stepdown nursing care for post-op cardiac and vascular surgery patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms, responding quickly to changes in patient status
• Administer and manage cardiac drips and vasoactive medications safely (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, etc.)
• Perform chest tube and epidural management, tube feedings, IV therapy, and related complex bedside care
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Cerner EMR and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge plans
• Maintain a safe, organized unit environment and support unit staffing needs as a flexible team member

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license (compact license acceptable based on facility requirements)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Stepdown and Telemetry experience required)
• Prefer recent (within 1 year) experience with CV surgery and vascular surgery populations or CVICU experience
• Comfortable with advanced cardiac monitoring, vasoactive drips, chest tube and epidural management
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and adapt to rotating schedules

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Progressive care/stepdown nursing principles and cardiac post-op care
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and orders
• Experience with Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and IV gluccomander
• Skilled in chest tube care, tube feedings, IV therapy, and cardiac drip titration
• Strong communication, triage prioritization, and teamwork skills
