Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess PCU patients continuously, responding quickly to changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and on schedule
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and the care team to coordinate patient-centered care
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record with clarity
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and safe transitions
• Escalate concerns and advocate for patients to ensure high-quality outcomes
• Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve care processes and patient safety

Qualifications

• Current RN license for North Carolina (or compact RN license where applicable)
• Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience (PCU/telemetry or med-surg preferred)
• BLS required; ACLS and other specialty certifications preferred
• Experience with patient assessment, telemetry monitoring, and acute care interventions
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills relevant to PCU care
• Proficiency in medication administration and IV therapies
• Skilled in patient assessment, triage, and clinical prioritization
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting accurately
• Able to collaborate across disciplines and advocate for patients
