Shift Type: RN - PACU (Peds), 4-hour shifts, specific start/end times and days not specified (orientation required)

Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients coming through PACU
Closely monitor vital signs, pain levels, and airway status, intervening promptly when needed
Perform safe handoffs and clear documentation during transitions of care
Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, and pediatric care teams to optimize patient recovery
Educate families on immediate post-operative care and discharge instructions in a warm, reassuring way
Maintain a clean, safe PACU environment and adhere to infection control standards

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (or compact RN where applicable)
Experience or strong interest in PACU and pediatric nursing
Current BLS certification; PALS and ACLS preferred or obtainable during orientation
Comfortable with pediatric assessment, pain management, and post-anesthesia protocols
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia care and recovery monitoring
Pediatric assessment and family-centered communication
IV therapy, airway management basics, and pain control techniques
Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
Ability to triage, prioritize, and respond calmly in a fast-paced PACU setting
