Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery
• Monitor vital signs and assess patients for complications during recovery
• Administer medications and manage post-operative pain
• Educate patients and families on recovery and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the care team to ensure seamless transitions
• Document patient progress accurately and maintain a safe environment

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license in Rhode Island (Nursys verified)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (must be current)
• Proven PACU experience required
• Completion of required competency exams and skills checklist (EKG, Pharmacology, Core Competencies)
• Compliance with health requirements including COVID-19 vaccine, TB screening and flu vaccine

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• In-depth knowledge of PACU and perianesthesia nursing standards
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and pharmacology
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work four 10-hour shifts and participate in call rotation
• Compassionate, attentive approach to patient care
