Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Three 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, plus rotating call: one short call (7:30 PM - 11:00 PM) or one long call (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) each week and 1-2 24-hour weekend calls (Saturday or Sunday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM) per six-week grid.

Candidate Pay Rate: $74 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, expert perioperative care to patients before, during, and after surgery
• Assist surgeons and surgical teams by maintaining a sterile field and anticipating needs
• Monitor patient vitals, sedation, and responses to procedures and act quickly if concerns arise
• Document every step of care accurately to ensure continuity and safety
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff for seamless surgical outcomes
• Participate in on-call rotations for evening, night, and weekend emergency procedures

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Rhode Island or compact state eligibility
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or equivalent)
• Operating room nursing experience strongly preferred
• Willingness to complete CNE skills checklist, specialty competency exam, EKG exam, pharmacology exam, and core competencies
• Ability to meet personal health history requirements including immunizations, TB screening, and fit test
• Nursys verification and license/certificate verification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of surgical aseptic techniques and infection control
• Skilled in perioperative patient assessment, monitoring, and emergency response
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and OR procedures
• Ability to read and interpret EKG rhythms and understand relevant pharmacology
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a calm, focused approach under pressure
• Detail-oriented with excellent documentation habits
