Roles & Responsibilities

• Independently manage and provide exceptional care for a patient load of up to 5, prioritizing safety and recovery
• Deliver perioperative and postoperative nursing care specific to orthopedic surgery patients
• Perform wound and dressing changes and assist with aspirations and other bedside procedures
• Manage pain control and medication administration in collaboration with the care team
• Document care accurately in Meditech and communicate patient status effectively during handoffs
• Champion a positive, team-oriented culture that drives strong patient experience and quality outcomes

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as listed in the posting)
• Proven experience on a surgical unit — orthopedic surgical experience preferred
• Ability to independently manage 5 patients (must-have from the hiring profile)
• Active RN license (Colorado or compact preferred) and current BLS; additional certifications encouraged
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and a team-player attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic and surgical nursing practices and patient care
• Pain management techniques relevant to post-op orthopedic patients
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR for documentation and charting
• Familiarity with dressing changes, aspirations, and common orthopedic procedures
• Ability to work within established patient ratios and contribute to a collaborative unit culture
