Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and sterile fields for surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth cases
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and communicate changes promptly
• Maintain accurate documentation of surgical care and patient records
• Uphold strict infection control and sterile technique standards
• Participate in pre-op and post-op handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Louisiana license or compact RN as applicable)
• Experience in Operating Room/Perioperative nursing or strong interest in OR practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, CNOR) are a plus
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Current immunizations and compliance with facility health requirements as required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); must meet Louisiana licensure requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR workflows
• Skilled in patient assessment, intraoperative monitoring, and documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate complex cases
• Familiarity with electronic medical record documentation and perioperative checklists
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and quality care
