Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to post-operative and medical-surgical patients
• Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress, responding quickly to any changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely while keeping meticulous documentation in EPIC
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other team members to ensure seamless care transitions
• Float to other units as needed to help where the need is greatest
• Deliver specialized care to oncology patients on the med/surg overflow unit

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska or a compact state (or willingness to obtain)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent medical-surgical or post-operative nursing experience
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Experience with EPIC charting system strongly preferred
• Ability to successfully pass an open-book orientation exam (90% or higher) within training
• Comfortable floating to different units within scope of practice
• Valid driver's license required for the 50-mile radius verification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of medical-surgical and post-operative care
• Familiarity with oncology patient populations and their unique needs
• Proficiency in administering nasal cannula oxygen therapy
• Skilled in using EPIC electronic health record systems
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
• Clear communication and teamwork in fast-paced environments
