Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during examinations, fittings, and adjustments of braces and aligners
- Prepare and sterilize instruments, ensuring a clean, safe environment
- Take dental X-rays, photos, and impressions as directed
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and proper care of orthodontic appliances
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes
- Provide a welcoming, reassuring experience for patients of all ages
Qualifications
- Certified Orthodontic Dental Assistant (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Prior experience as a dental assistant, preferably in orthodontics
- Comfortable using dental practice management software like Denticon
- Ability to build rapport with patients and collaborate with the care team
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of orthodontic instruments, procedures, and terminology
- Skill in taking radiographs and dental impressions
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a busy office
- Commitment to infection control and OSHA standards
