Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Assess and monitor patient condition, quickly identifying changes and intervening appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Document patient care, observations, and interventions in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans in clear, supportive language
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges to keep the unit running smoothly
• Respond to emergencies and escalations calmly and competently

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama or compact/multi-state license where applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and/or PALS preferred or supported
• Previous Med/Surg nursing experience preferred (new grads with strong clinical training are welcome to apply)
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and collaborate in a fast-paced hospital environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); equivalent nursing education considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment and medication administration
• Familiarity with IV therapy and wound care principles
• Comfortable using electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of infection control standards and safety best practices
• Time management and prioritization in a dynamic clinical setting
