Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Assess, monitor, and document patient condition and trends with attention to detail
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions safely and according to policy
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient status and escalating concerns
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and communicate clearly during handoffs

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana (or compact privilege where applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and PALS a plus where appropriate
• Clinical experience or training in Medical-Surgical nursing (experience preferred)
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and adapt to unit needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med-Surg patient care, assessments, and interventions
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy basics
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Excellent communication, time management, and prioritization skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide patient-centered care
