Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for Med/Surg patients — you’re the steady presence at the bedside
• Perform thorough assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately while monitoring patient reactions
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, discharge plans and self-care
• Document care clearly and timely in the electronic health record to ensure continuity
• Maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols and hospital policies
• Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute practical ideas to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — eligibility to practice in Louisiana is required
• Clinical experience on a Med/Surg unit preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or other specialty certifications a plus
• Strong assessment, prioritization and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable with electronic health record (EHR) systems and thorough documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to collaborate across disciplines

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and best practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Patient assessment and triage skills, including recognizing clinical deterioration
• Familiarity with inpatient safety protocols and infection prevention
• Ability to educate patients and families in clear, compassionate terms
• Time management and delegation skills in a fast-paced environment
