Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the nursing team as Charge Nurse during night shifts, fostering a collaborative and positive environment
• Step in to provide direct patient care when staffing is short or census is low, ensuring patients always receive safe, compassionate treatment
• Deliver comprehensive care to medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients, including medication administration and monitoring
• Collaborate with dedicated CNAs and virtual nurses using the innovative dyad model to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor telemetry and coordinate with respiratory therapy and other disciplines as needed
• Maintain accurate and thorough patient records using the EPIC charting system
• Float to PCU or Burn units as needed to support hospital-wide care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska or a compact state (NLC)
• At least 1 year of Med Surg experience
• BLS Certification required (American Heart Association)
• Willingness to pass an open-book skills exam with a 90% or higher during orientation
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility and not be employed, per diem, or PRN with any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility
• Valid driver's license required at submittal to verify distance
• Ability to follow fingernail policy: no artificial nails in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing knowledge, including postoperative and orthopedic care
• Proficient in EPIC electronic health record system
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and centralized tele stations
• Experience with Heparin drips
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to thrive in a dyad care model
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with 1:6-7 nurse-to-patient ratios
