Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor fetal heart rates, maternal vital signs, and progress of labor to ensure safe outcomes
• Assist with deliveries, including vaginal births and cesarean sections, and support emergency interventions
• Educate patients and families on prenatal care, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care
• Advocate for patient preferences and maintain a calm, supportive environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or compact state license
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certifications required
• Previous experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of labor and delivery procedures and protocols
• Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
• Skilled in maternal and neonatal assessment
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Knowledge of electronic health records and documentation standards
