Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs to ensure safe outcomes
• Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries while supporting natural birth plans
• Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, midwives, and nurses
• Respond quickly to obstetric emergencies and help stabilize patients
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or a compact state (NLC)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certification required
• Previous labor and delivery experience strongly preferred
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
• Compassionate, calm, and quick-thinking in high-pressure situations

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
• Knowledge of labor and delivery procedures and interventions
• Strong patient education and communication skills
• Ability to handle obstetric emergencies with composure
• Team collaboration and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Skilled in electronic health record documentation
