Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care at the bedside for critically ill patients
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition using advanced assessment skills
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to create and update care plans
• Operate and manage complex ICU equipment, including ventilators and hemodynamic monitors
• Administer medications, titrate drips, and perform critical interventions safely and accurately
• Document patient care clearly and promptly in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, and discharge needs with compassion
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• Critical care/ICU experience preferred; demonstrated comfort with ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred or required by hire
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and handle the physical demands of critical care nursing
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a patient-centered approach

Education

• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN nursing program
• BSN preferred where applicable

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in advanced cardiac and respiratory assessment
• Experience with ventilator management and titration of vasoactive medications
• Skilled in interpreting hemodynamic data and lab results to guide clinical decisions
• Comfortable using electronic health records for accurate documentation
• Able to prioritize and respond effectively in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
• Commitment to infection control practices and patient safety standards
