Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity, patient-centered nursing care for neurology and post-thrombectomy patients in the NSICU
• Manage and monitor complex devices and therapies including CRRT, bedside EVDs, arterial lines, and Baxter infusion pumps
• Safely administer and monitor TPA-related care and provide post-neurosurgery monitoring per unit protocols
• Document clinical assessments and interventions accurately in Cerner and communicate changes with the multidisciplinary team
• Maintain appropriate patient ratios and prioritize safety, rapid response, and family communication
• Float to other ICU areas or step-down units as needed to support unit staffing and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current RN (Registered Nurse) licensure (ability to work in NC required)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (neuro ICU experience strongly preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Familiarity with NIHSS assessments preferred
• Experience with CRRT, EVD care, arterial line monitoring, and Baxter pumps preferred
• Competent documentation skills in Cerner or similar EHR systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Neurology ICU care and post-thrombectomy patient management
• TPA monitoring and post-neurosurgery patient assessments
• CRRT setup and monitoring
• Bedside EVD care and A-line monitoring
• Operation of Baxter infusion pumps
• Clinical documentation and handoff using Cerner
• Critical thinking, rapid clinical decision-making, and teamwork in high-acuity settings
