Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients of all ages in the emergency/acute setting
• Make independent clinical decisions during your shift and escalate when complex input is needed
• Supervise and delegate to CNA/Tech staff to ensure safe, efficient patient care
• Document patient assessments, treatments, and physician orders accurately in the EMR
• Maintain infection control and patient safety standards at all times
• Participate in developing and implementing nursing policies, care plans, and procedure manuals
• Assist with training, evaluate staff performance, and recommend educational needs
• Manage supplies, report equipment issues, and ensure unit readiness for emergencies

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license — Alaska license required for agency staff; direct hires must have applied for Alaska license before start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — required or to be obtained within 6 months
• Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency per employer timelines (Clinical Competency within 3 months; High Risk within 3 months)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred and required for ED nurses
• Comfortable making independent nursing judgments and managing emergent situations
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform required physical job tasks

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN, ADN, or Diploma in Nursing)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and emergency response skills
• Medication administration and precise clinical documentation experience
• Experience with EMR documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Knowledge of infection control practices and care planning
• Ability to supervise, delegate, and work harmoniously with diverse teams
• Familiarity with hospital and long-term care regulations and standards
