Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 3x12, 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, some weekends (Night)

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect emergency patient care with initiative, flexibility and professional judgment
Triage patients quickly and accurately, recognizing physical and psychosocial needs that affect patient flow
Communicate changes in patient status, symptoms and diagnostic results to ER physicians and mid-level providers
Respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment response
Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, allied health staff and registration teams to ensure coordinated care
Supervise and give direction to Emergency Department techs, registration staff and allied health personnel as needed
Operate and maintain manual and electronic medical equipment and perform IV therapy and relevant procedures
Document clinical care clearly and effectively to support continuity and quality of care

Qualifications

Current MT State RN license required
Degree from an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred
2 years of Emergency Department (ER) experience required
BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC and ENPC required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Demonstrated ability to triage, assess and prioritize in a fast-paced ED environment
Strong clinical communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Education

Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures
Rapid patient assessment and triage skills
IV therapy and operation of manual/electronic medical equipment
Clinical communication with physicians and mid-level providers
Patient flow management and ability to work with varied acuity levels
Basic office and computer skills for documentation and charting
