Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and stabilize patients presenting to the emergency department with speed, compassion, and clinical expertise
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and emergency interventions accurately and safely
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated patient care
• Perform and interpret monitoring, labs, and diagnostics to guide rapid decision-making
• Document patient care thoroughly and promptly in the electronic health record
• Provide clear education and emotional support to patients and families during stressful moments
• Participate in trauma responses, codes, and emergency procedures as a dependable team member
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and ED operations

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama (or compact license if accepted by facility)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required by hire
• Emergency Department experience preferred (1-2 years recommended for new hires)
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and crisis management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with professionalism and empathy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven skills in patient triage and emergency assessment
• Comfort with cardiac monitoring, trauma care, and acute respiratory management
• Familiarity with IV insertion, medication administration, and emergency protocols
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-pressure situations
• Basic EHR documentation skills and attention to detail
