Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care for patients in the Progressive Care Unit and step-down ICU, making each shift count
• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and accurately read telemetry strips to detect changes early
• Perform fingerstick blood sugar checks and manage diabetic care as needed
• Use Meditech for charting and maintain accurate, timely patient documentation
• Safely access and administer medications using Pyxis and follow medication administration protocols
• Operate respiratory support such as BIPAP and collaborate with the team on respiratory interventions
• Float to other acute units as required, supporting Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER teams
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while communicating clearly with patients and families

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment
• Minimum of 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
• ACLS preferred
• Current PALS preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Comfortable floating to other acute in-house units

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and telemetry strip interpretation
• Continuous cardiac monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Progressive Care and step-down ICU workflow and patient acuity
• Meditech electronic charting proficiency
• Pyxis medication system experience
• BIPAP and basic respiratory support familiarity
• Primary nursing skills including assessment, medication administration, and patient education
• Point-of-care testing such as fingerstick blood sugar
