Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, professional nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients, ensuring comfort and safety
• Use critical thinking and the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Supervise and direct the patient care team, including CNAs, LPNs, and techs
• Collaborate with your team and other disciplines to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
• Document patient conditions, reactions, and progress accurately and in a timely manner
• Support deliveries and provide immediate newborn care to ensure healthy starts

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license (LARA must state active MI license)
• Minimum 2 years of current Birthing Center experience
• Experience with laboring patients, deliveries, and postpartum care for moms and babies
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification
• NRP certification preferred - but willing to consider RNs who are ready to obtain it
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Must have reliable transportation (own vehicle) for this assignment
• Willingness to work rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical thinking and independent judgment
• Patient assessment and all phases of the nursing process
• Documentation and tracking patient progress
• Supervision of CNAs, LPNs, and techs
• Labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Comfortable with Cerner EMR
• BLS and NRP (preferred) certifications
