Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric
• Develop and implement medical nutrition therapy for acute care, long-term care, and critical care patients
• Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and their families
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Serve as a nutrition resource for food service management and kitchen staff to clarify diets and enhance patient satisfaction
• Document assessments, care plans, and interventions in the electronic medical record
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and ICU rounds to bring the nutrition perspective to patient care

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii Dietitian License by start of assignment (willingness to apply upon offer accepted)
• Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Minimum 1-2 years of clinical nutrition experience
• Experience with electronic medical records charting and nutrition care plans
• Ability to work in acute, long-term, and critical care settings
• Must be available to arrive Thursday before start date for employee health appointment

Knowledge & Skills

• Nutrition assessment for all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric
• Medical nutrition therapy for acute, long-term, and critical care
• Estimating caloric, protein, and fluid needs
• Nutrition support including parenteral and enteral nutrition
• Food service management and menu modification
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with medical and food service teams
