Candidate Pay Rate: $81 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments with precision and care, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout each session
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to implement and adjust treatment plans
  • Accurately position patients and operate imaging and treatment equipment to target tumors while protecting healthy tissue
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and document treatment progress and any changes in condition
  • Educate patients and families about the treatment process, side effects, and what to expect during the course of therapy
  • Maintain a clean, safe treatment environment and follow all radiation safety protocols and quality assurance standards

Qualifications

  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent) required
  • Active state licensure or certification as a Radiation Therapist in Iowa, or eligibility to obtain prior to start
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
  • Ability to complete Trinity skills checklist and specialty-specific competency testing
  • Willingness to meet Trinity health requirements including physical, drug screen, and immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, annual flu, COVID-19)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Solid working knowledge of radiation therapy equipment, patient positioning, and treatment planning systems
  • Understanding of radiation safety principles and quality assurance standards
  • Strong communication skills with patients, families, and the care team
  • Compassionate patient-centered approach, especially for patients undergoing cancer treatment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and respond calmly in a fast-paced clinical environment
