Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough assessments (AROM/AAROM/PROM), create and update individualized plans of care
• Deliver evidence-based post-operative and orthopedic rehabilitation (TKA, THA, RCR, spinal surgeries, ACL, arthroscopies)
• Provide gait training and prescribe appropriate assistive devices to improve mobility and safety
• Implement home exercise programs and educate patients and families to support recovery
• Use modalities like cryotherapy and hydrotherapy, and support aquatic therapy when appropriate
• Document evaluations, reassessments, discharge plans, and short- and long-term goals in a timely, organized manner
• Manage a scheduled caseload (approx. 11–12 patients/day) while maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care
• Assist with safe patient transfers and transport; model proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques

Qualifications

• Valid California Physical Therapist license (required)
• BLS certification preferred
• Manual Therapy certification preferred
• Approximately 1 year of inpatient or orthopedic/neurology experience preferred; strong new grads will be considered
• Spanish speaking preferred but not required
• Comfortable managing 8–12 scheduled patients per day and documenting comprehensive plans of care
• Experience with post-operative care for hip, knee, shoulder and spinal procedures is a strong plus
• Experience or interest in aquatic therapy, neurology, or sports medicine is beneficial

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment techniques (AROM/AAROM/PROM) and pain assessment
• Proficient with assistive devices: crutches, walkers, gait belts, sliding boards, slings
• Strong documentation skills: evaluation, plan of care, reassessment, discharge planning
• Expertise in gait training, extremity mobilization, spinal mobilization and post-op rehab
• Familiarity with modalities such as cryotherapy and hydrotherapy
• Ability to teach effective home exercise programs and patient/family education
• Time management and caseload prioritization in a busy inpatient setting
• Knowledge of common diagnoses: DDD, DJD, ankle/hip/knee injuries, low back pain, sciatica, CVA, Parkinson's, TBI
