Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during patient exams, adjustments, and orthodontic procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to maintain a safe clinical environment
• Take dental impressions, digital scans, and X-rays as needed
• Educate patients on orthodontic care and post-treatment instructions
• Maintain accurate patient records and update charts in the practice management system
• Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a smooth, positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Maryland dental assistant license, certification, or registry as required
• Certification in dental radiography and X-rays
• Previous experience in orthodontic assisting is a plus
• CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Comfort working evening shifts and a per diem schedule
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-first attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and sterilization techniques
• Familiarity with dental practice management software, including Denticon
• Ability to take impressions, digital scans, and intraoral X-rays
• Excellent communication skills for working with patients of all ages
• Strong attention to detail and infection control practices
