Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings and prophylaxis to maintain patients' oral health
• Conduct patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories and taking vital signs
• Take and develop dental x-rays with precision and care
• Provide personalized oral hygiene instructions and preventive care education
• Document patient care accurately and assist the dentist during procedures
• Sterilize instruments and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment

Qualifications

• Current Virginia Dental Hygiene license (or compact eligibility) required
• CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
• Strong clinical skills with attention to patient comfort and safety
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Previous experience in a dental office is preferred but new graduates welcome

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and sterilization protocols
• Skilled in taking digital and traditional radiographs
• Understanding of periodontal disease and preventative care
• Proficient in dental charting and electronic health records (EHR)
• Ability to work collaboratively with a dental team
