Shift Type: Per diem, 12.5-hour shifts; day and night shifts available based on staffing needs
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $52 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum
- Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, including fetal heart rate tracings, and intervene as needed
- Assist obstetricians and midwives with deliveries, including cesarean sections and vaginal births
- Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
- Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders and protocols
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized birth plans
- Respond quickly to obstetric emergencies and provide life-saving interventions when necessary
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA or equivalent
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience preferred
- Strong fetal monitoring interpretation skills and familiarity with electronic fetal monitoring
- Current ACLS certification preferred for high-risk deliveries
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of obstetric and neonatal nursing standards
- Skilled in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
- Ability to remain calm and effective during emergencies
