Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during periodontal procedures and other dental treatments
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and operatory rooms
• Take and develop dental X-rays (if certified)
• Provide patients with oral hygiene instructions and post-operative care
• Maintain accurate patient records and update charts
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized dental environment

Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by the state of Maryland
• BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
• Radiography (X-ray) certification for dental assistants
• Prior experience in a dental office, especially with periodontal procedures, is a plus
• Excellent patient communication and customer service skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and sterilization techniques
• Familiarity with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Team player with a positive attitude
