Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on resident care that preserves dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) safely and respectfully
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to nursing staff promptly
- Document care and observations clearly in the resident chart or electronic health record
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and the care team to support individualized care plans
- Follow infection control, safety, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through compassionate communication
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification in Connecticut (required)
- Completion of a state-approved nurse aide training program
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening per facility policy
- Up-to-date immunizations and health screening documentation as required
- Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited CNA program and state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs and basic observations
- Familiarity with infection control and patient safety principles
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and team members
- Basic electronic charting or paper charting proficiency
- Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nursing staff
