Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to residents, making each day safer and more comfortable
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding with dignity
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
- Ensure a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Support mobility needs, including safe transfers and ambulation assistance
- Document care activities clearly and timely to maintain accurate resident records
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered care and improve resident outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification valid in Connecticut
- CPR/BLS certification required or must obtain upon hire
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and basic patient care tasks
- Reliable, compassionate, and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Preferred: prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or assisted living settings
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of infection control practices and patient safety standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for resident and family interactions
- Ability to perform safe resident handling and transfers
- Basic charting and documentation skills, whether electronic or paper-based
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
