Roles & Responsibilities

• Take accurate vital signs and document findings to support excellent patient care
• Assist providers with outpatient gynecologic and urogynecology procedures
• Serve as a professional chaperone during exams and procedures to ensure patient comfort and safety
• Initiate and follow through on medication prior authorization requests to keep patient treatments moving
• Process and send referrals efficiently so patients get the specialty care they need
• Chart thoroughly in Cerner EMR to maintain clear, actionable patient records
• Communicate compassionately with patients about procedures, follow-up, and next steps
• Maintain exam rooms and supplies to support smooth clinic flow

Qualifications

• Current CMA certification (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum ~2 years outpatient clinical experience preferred
• Comfort assisting with gynecologic/urogynecology procedures and acting as a chaperone
• Experience handling medication prior authorizations and referral processing
• Familiarity with local insurance practices in Kern County is a strong plus
• Ability to work Monday–Friday daytime schedule and wear black or solid scrubs

Education

• CMA certification
• High school diploma or equivalent
• BLS certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with vital signs and routine clinical assessments
• Experience assisting with outpatient procedures and providing chaperone support
• Knowledge of prior authorization workflows and referral routing
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and orders
• Good communication skills with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Understanding of insurance nuances in Kern County and how they impact care coordination
