Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and support with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance
• Take and accurately document vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical observations
• Apply infection control practices and universal precautions to keep residents and staff safe
• Assist with restorative care and use of assistive devices, including range of motion activities
• Observe, report, and document changes in resident condition clearly and promptly to the care team
• Participate as a collaborative member of the treatment team to support individualized care plans
• Maintain resident dignity and respect patient rights while delivering person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential required
• Minimum six months of work experience in a long-term care (LTC) facility required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers certification required within six months of employment
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English and follow written and oral instructions
• Demonstrated ability to manage challenging behaviors with patience, tact, and emotional stability
• Previous Hawaii work experience is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Personal care and ADLs, bathing, grooming and feeding
• Taking vital signs and recognizing abnormal signs and symptoms
• Infection control, universal precautions and first aid
• Restorative care techniques and assistive device use
• Patient observation, reporting and accurate documentation
• Body mechanics, cultural competency and strong oral and written communication
