Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality neuro-focused nursing care during night shifts to patients with neurological conditions
• Perform timely and accurate neurological assessments, including NIHSS when appropriate
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care thoroughly
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to implement patient-centered plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient status and escalate concerns when necessary
• Maintain and verify required certifications and licensure to ensure compliance
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and unit-based best practices

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (state-appropriate) and License/Certificate Verification required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• TNCC certification required
• NIHSS competency or experience performing NIH Stroke Scale assessments
• Current fit testing and required health screenings per employer checklist
• Prior experience in neuro nursing preferred but motivated and competent RNs will be considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neuro assessment skills and familiarity with NIHSS
• Critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making in acute care settings
• Medication administration and IV therapy proficiency
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to work autonomously during night shifts while maintaining patient safety
